Photo Editing Options

Are you wondering how I got this awesome canvass overlay?  Well, thanks to Pixlr Express, I transformed this photo in about 3 minutes.  Pixlr is very easy and quick free online program that allows you to edit your photos.  It kind of reminds me of those ridiculous kiosk photobooths that you find scattered in major Asian cities.  The Express version has more to offer in terms of features than iPhoto or Picassa.  At the same time, it not a photo organizer nor downloadable program.  There are many other user-friendly free basic web softwares including Adobe Photoshop Express.  Also, for those with existing Goolge+ accounts, you can add “decorations” to your pictures through their Creative Lab (because they acquired Picnik) by simply uploading a photo to edit.

When you don’t have Adobe Photoshop, you should try GIMP or Aviary, the latter of which is completely web-based.  Both offers the signature Photoshop “layers” capability and are fairly robust.  You can do some serious editing with these.  A few other articles cited SplashUp as another good alternative, but it wouldn’t load for me.

At the end of the day, unless you’re a marketing director, web designer, computer art student or starting your own business in photography or photo editing, you will most likely save a lot of money by using one of these free alternatives to Adobe Photoshop.
